Grief, Loss and Trauma - October 21, 2020

The DC School Behavioral Health Community of Practice (DC CoP) meeting on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, from 2:00-4:00 pm focused on a problem-solving strategy that you or your school team can use to work with students and families experiencing trauma. This CoP meeting was co-led by the Trauma-Informed Practices in Schools Practice Group (PG) leaders.

 At this meeting, we: 

  • Explore implementation challenges in trauma-informed practices in schools.
  • Share evidence-based practices and other resources that can be applied by school teams to address grief, loss, and trauma in schools.
  • Practice an engagement strategy (Consultancy Protocol) that can be used to address the implementation challenges around trauma-informed practices in schools.
  • Provide practical ideas to help clinicians and school staff understand and meet the needs of children and families who have stress and trauma in their daily lives.
