What is Kognito Training for DC Educators?
Kognito, an award-winning health simulation company, provides mental health and suicide prevention learning modules required of all educators and administrators working in DCPS and DC public charter schools. We also encourage clinicians to complete this training in order to support your colleagues in their ability to identify and refer students with emerging behavioral health concerns to you and your peers. Clinicians who are school-based or are part of a community-based organization who complete the training are invited to join the time-limited Kognito Training Work Group.
What is the Kognito Work Group?
The work group is a way to explore how best to utilize the Kognito trainings in meaningful ways in
your schools:
- Develop shared experiences with educators (utilizing the Kognito scenarios).
- Help advance a school-based trauma-informed approach.
- Develop a common language with administrators and teachers to facilitate their engagement on the implementation of social and emotional learning, crisis intervention and trauma practices.
- Help create more efficient referral protocols/processes for communicating with families and students
